حَدَّثَنَا الْحُسَيْنُ بْنُ إِسْمَاعِيلَ الْمُحَامِلِيُّ ، حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ شَبِيبٍ الْمَدَنِيُّ ، حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ مَسْلَمَةَ الْمَخْزُومِيُّ ، حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ إِبْرَاهِيمَ بْنِ دِينَارٍ ، حَدَّثَنِي عُبَيْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ عُمَرَ ، عَنْ زَيْدِ بْنِ أَسْلَمَ ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ ، عَنْ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ مَسْلَمَةَ الأَنْصَارِيِّ ، قَالَ : قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : " يَا مُحَمَّدُ ، إِذَا رَأَيْتَ النَّاسَ يَقْتَتِلُونَ عَلَى الدُّنْيَا فَاعْمِدْ بِسَيْفِكَ إِلَى أَعْظَمِ صَخْرَةٍ فِي الْحَرَمِ فَاضْرِبْهُ بِهَا حَتَّى يَنْكَسِرَ ، ثُمَّ اجْلِسْ فِي بَيْتِكَ حَتَّى تَأْتِيَكَ يَدٌ خَاطِئَةٌ أَوْ مَنِيَّةٌ قَاضِيَةٌ ، فَفَعَلْتُ مَا أَمَرَنِي بِهِ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ "، لَمْ يَرْوِهِ عَنْ عُبَيْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ عُمَرَ ، إِلا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ إِبْرَاهِيمَ بْنِ دِينَارٍ . تَفَرَّدَ بِهِ مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ مَسْلَمَةَ الْمَخْزُومِيُّ
Sayyiduna Muhammad bin Maslamah Ansari (may Allah be pleased with him) reports that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "O Muhammad! When you see people fighting over the world, then take your sword and strike it on a strong stone of the Haram so that it breaks, then sit in your house until either the hand of a wrongdoer reaches you, or decisive death comes to you." So I did exactly what the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) had commanded me.

Ibn Majah — Hadith 3962
´It was narrated that Abu Burdah said:` “I entered upon Muhammad bin Maslamah and he said that the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said: ‘There will be tribulation, division and dissension. When that comes, take your sword to Uhud and strike it until it breaks, then sit in your house until there comes to you the hand of the evildoer (to kill you) or a predestined (natural) death.’” "And that came to pass, and I did as the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said."

Benefits and Issues:
(1)
The weapons of Muslims should be used against the disbelievers; when they are turned against a Muslim, it is better for them to be destroyed.

(2)
The meaning of a sinful hand is that you become the target of some evildoer and attain martyrdom as an oppressed person, or due to natural death you are freed from these troubles.
