Hadith 756

Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Mas'ud (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "On the Day of Resurrection, the feet of a person will not move from their place until he is questioned about five things: about his life—how he spent it; about his youth—where he wore it out; about his wealth—where he earned it from and where he spent it; and about what he did with what he knew."

Explanation:
1:
According to this hadith, among the things about which questioning will take place, the very first will be regarding this life, every single moment of which is extremely precious. Therefore, one should consider it as a borrowed life and spend it in obedience and submission to Allah, because one will have to give account for it. In youth, a person should protect himself from prohibitions (muharramat); if there is any negligence in this regard, it will be difficult to escape Allah’s grasp. Similarly, in matters of wealth, whether earning or spending, in both cases, the fear of Allah should remain ever-present. There will be questioning regarding acting according to knowledge. From this, it is understood that one should acquire knowledge of the religion and the Shari‘ah, because this alone is beneficial and advantageous for him.
