Warning against concealing knowledge
Hadith 73
حَدَّثَنَا ثَابِتُ بْنُ نُعَيْمٍ أَبُو مَعْنٍ الْهَوْجِيُّ ، حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ أَبِي السَّرِيِّ الْعَسْقَلانِيُّ ، حَدَّثَنَا مُعْتَمِرُ بْنُ سُلَيْمَانَ التَّيْمِيُّ ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ ، عَنْ عَطَاءِ بْنِ أَبِي رَبَاحٍ ، عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ رَضِيَ اللهُ عَنْهُ ، قَالَ : قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : "مَنْ سُئِلَ عَنْ عِلْمٍ فَكَتَمَهُ ، أُلْجِمَ يَوْمَ الْقِيَامَةِ بِلِجَامٍ مِنْ نَارٍ "، لَمْ يَرْوِهِ عَنْ سُلَيْمَانَ ، إِلا ابْنُهُ . تَفَرَّدَ بِهِ ابْنُ أَبِي السَّرِيِّ
Sayyiduna Abu Hurairah (may Allah be pleased with him) reports: The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: “Whoever is asked about some knowledge and he conceals it, a bridle of fire will be placed on him on the Day of Resurrection.”
