حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو مُسْلِمٍ الْكِيشِيُّ ، عَنْ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ عَبْدِ الرَّحِيمِ ، عَنْ أَبِي عَاصِمٍ ، حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو عَاصِمٍ ، عَنْ عَجْلانَ ، وَحَدَّثَنَا حَفْصُ بْنُ عُمَرَ الْمُوقِيُّ 9 ، حَدَّثَنَا قَبِيصَةُ ، عَنْ سُفْيَانَ ، عَنِ ابْنِ عَجْلانَ ، وَحَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ عَلِيٍّ الْمَرْوَزِيُّ الْحَافِظُ ، حَدَّثَنَا خَلَفُ بْنُ شَاذَانَ ، حَدَّثَنِي أَبِي ، عَنْ جَدِّي ، عَنْ شُعْبَةَ ، عَنْ بَكْرِ بْنِ وَائِلٍ ، عَنِ ابْنِ عَجْلانَ ، وَحَدَّثَنَا يَحْيَى بْنُ عُثْمَانَ بْنِ صَالِحٍ الْمِصْرِيُّ ، حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ صَالِحٍ ، حَدَّثَنِي اللَّيْثُ بْنُ سَعْدٍ ، عَنْ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ عَجْلانَ ، وَحَدَّثَنَا الْمِقْدَامُ بْنُ دَاوُدَ ، حَدَّثَنَا أَسَدُ بْنُ مُوسَى ، حَدَّثَنَا سَعِيدُ بْنُ سَالِمٍ الْقَدَّاحُ ، عَنِ ابْنِ جُرَيْجٍ ، عَنِ ابْنِ عَجْلانَ، كُلُّهُمْ قَالُوا : عَنْ سَعِيدٍ الْمَقْبُرِيِّ ، عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ ، عَنِ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَآلِهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، مِثْلَهُ .
With this same chain, Sayyiduna Abu Hurairah (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates from the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) in the same manner.

Benefit:
From this hadith, the importance of saying "as-salamu alaykum" becomes clear: when you enter a gathering, you should say "as-salamu alaykum," and when you leave, you should again say "as-salamu alaykum." Just as saying salam upon entering a gathering is a virtuous deed, likewise, saying salam when leaving the gathering is also a virtuous deed. One should not be negligent in saying salam at both of these times. Some people say salam when entering a gathering but do not say salam when leaving, which is not correct.
