Hadith 679
حَدَّثَنَا الْحَسَنُ بْنُ عَلِيِّ بْنِ يَاسِرِ الْبَغْدَادِيُّ ، خَالُ أَبِي الأَذَانِ ، حَدَّثَنَا سَعِيدُ بْنُ يَحْيَى بْنِ الأَزْهَرِ الْوَاسِطِيُّ ، حَدَّثَنَا إِسْحَاقُ بْنُ يُوسُفَ الأَزْرَقُ ، حَدَّثَنَا شَرِيكٌ ، عَنْ هِشَامِ بْنِ عُرْوَةَ ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ ، عَنْ عَائِشَةَ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهَا ، قَالَتْ : كَانَ النَّبِيُّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَآلِهِ وَسَلَّمَ "إِذَا سَمِعَ اسْمًا قَبِيحًا غَيَّرَهُ ، فَمَرَّ عَلَى قَرْيَةٍ يُقَالُ لَهَا : عُفْرَةُ ، فَسَمَّاهَا خَضِرَةً "، لَمْ يَرْوِهِ عَنْ شَرِيكٍ ، إِلا إِسْحَاقُ
Sayyida Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her) narrates: Whenever the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) heard a bad name, he would change it. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) once passed by a village whose name was ‘Afrah, so he changed its name to Khadrah.
