Sayyiduna Umar bin Khattab (may Allah be pleased with him) says: Some captives were brought to the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him). Among the captives was a woman running about; whenever she saw a child among the captives, she would pick him up, hold him to her belly, and start nursing him. The Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "What do you think, can this woman throw her son into the fire?" We said: If she has the power not to throw him, she will not throw him. He (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Allah, the Mighty and Majestic, is more merciful to His servants than this woman is to her child."

Hadith Commentary:
Most likely, this was the lost child of the woman who was found by her, and she embraced him to her bosom with such affection.

Hadith Commentary:
(1)
In one narration, it is clarified that this woman’s child had gone missing, so whenever she saw any child, she would embrace him to her chest and breastfeed him. Eventually, when she found her own child, she embraced him to her chest and was extremely happy.
This clarification shows that her breasts had become heavy due to the accumulation of milk, so whenever she saw any child, she would begin to breastfeed him in order to relieve the heaviness of her breasts.
(Musnad Ahmad: 3/104, and Fath al-Bari: 10/530)
(2)
Allah, the Exalted, will have mercy on His servants on the Day of Resurrection and will not cast them into Hell; however, those who have committed evil deeds and are deserving of Hell will certainly be handed over to Hell. It is as if they themselves are consigning themselves to the Fire.
(3)
Hafiz Ibn Hajar rahimahullah says:
Although the word "‘ibad" (servants) in the hadith is general, what is meant by it are the people of faith, as Allah, the Exalted, has said:
“My mercy encompasses all things, but I will decree it for those who are God-fearing and righteous.” ()
In any case, a person should always strive to attain the mercy of Allah, the Exalted.

Hadith Commentary: Benefits and Issues: (Surar)
By (surar) is meant, according to some, the initial days of the month, and according to others, the middle days, because it is derived from (surah), which means "middle," and by this is meant the "white days" (ayyam al-beed), the explanation of which is coming in a separate chapter. However, according to the majority, it is derived from "istisrar," meaning to be hidden or concealed; therefore, by this is meant the last days of the month.
But an objection arises to this, that the Prophet (sallallahu alayhi wa sallam) forbade fasting in the last days of Sha'ban. The answer to this is that the prohibition is for the person who fasts only the last days of Sha'ban, either to welcome Ramadan or as a precautionary measure by fasting one or two days. However, the person who always fasts in the last days of every month, he should continue to fast according to his habit. And this person had abandoned fasting out of fear of the prohibition, so the Prophet (sallallahu alayhi wa sallam) said: "Make up for them so that your habit remains intact."
