With this same chain of narration, Sayyiduna Anas (may Allah be pleased with him) says: We said, "O Messenger of Allah! Should we not call towards good unless we ourselves act upon all good deeds, and should we not forbid evil unless we ourselves abstain from all evil?" He (peace and blessings be upon him) replied: "No! Rather, even if you do not act upon good, still command it; and even if you do not abstain from evil, still forbid people from it."
