Explanation of eating together and being jealous of a co-wife
Hadith 634
حَدَّثَنَا عَلِيُّ بْنُ مُحَمَّدٍ الأَنْصَارِيُّ الْمِصْرِيُّ ، حَدَّثَنَا حَرْمَلَةُ بْنُ يَحْيَى ، حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ وَهْبٍ ، حَدَّثَنَا يَحْيَى بْنُ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ سَالِمِ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ عُمَرَ بْنِ الْخَطَّابِ ، عَنْ عُبَيْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ عُمَرَ ، عَنْ ثَابِتٍ الْبُنَانِيِّ ، عَنْ أَنَسِ بْنِ مَالِكٍ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ ، أَنَّهُمْ كَانُوا يَوْمًا عِنْد َرَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَآلِهِ وَسَلَّمَ فِي بَيْتِ عَائِشَةَ زَوْجِ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَآلِهِ وَسَلَّمَ وَرَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهَا ، قَالَ : "فَبَيْنَمَا نَحْنُ عِنْدَ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَآلِهِ وَسَلَّمَ إِذَا أُتِيَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَآلِهِ وَسَلَّمَ بِصَحْفَةِ خُبْزٍ وَلَحْمٍ مِنْ بَيْتِ أُمِّ سَلَمَةَ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهَا ، فَوُضِعَتْ بَيْنَ يَدَيِ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَآلِهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، فَقَالَ : ضَعُوا أَيْدِيَكُمْ ، فَوَضَعَ النَّبِيُّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَآلِهِ وَسَلَّمَ وَوَضَعْنَا أَيْدِيَنَا ، فَأَكَلْنَا ، وَعَائِشَةُ تَصْنَعُ طَعَامًا عَجِلَةً مُعَجَّلَةً ، فَدَارَتِ الصَّحْفَةُ الَّتِي أُتِيَ بِهَا ، فَلَمَّا فَرَغَتْ مِنْ طَعَامِهَا جَاءَتْ بِهِ فَوَضَعَتْهُ ، وَرَفَعَتْ صَحْفَةَ أُمِّ سَلَمَةَ فَكَسَرَتْهَا ، وَقَالَتْ ، وَقَالَتْ ، فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَآلِهِ وَسَلَّمَ : كُلُوا بِاسْمِ اللَّهِ غَارَتْ أُمُّكُمْ ، ثُمَّ أَعْطَى صَحْفَتَهَا أُمَّ سَلَمَةَ ، وَقَالَ : طَعَامٌ مَكَانَ طَعَامٍ ، وَإِنَاءٌ مَكَانَ إِنَاءٍ "، لَمْ يَرْوِهِ عَنْ عُبَيْدِ اللَّهِ ، إِلا يَحْيَى بْنُ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ ، وَلا عَنْهُ إِلا ابْنُ وَهْبٍ ، تَفَرَّدَ بِهِ حَرْمَلَةُ ، وَلا كَتَبْنَاهُ إِلا عَنِ الأَنْصَارِيِّ
Sayyiduna Anas (may Allah be pleased with him) says: Some people were with the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) in the house of Sayyidah Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her). They say: Once we were with the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) when a bowl of meat and bread came to him from the house of Sayyidah Umm Salamah (may Allah be pleased with her). It was placed before the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), so he said: "Put your hands in as well." Then the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) put his hand in it and we also put our hands in and we ate from it. Sayyidah Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her) was quickly preparing food, so the bowl that was brought began to go around among them. When she finished, she brought it and placed it, and broke the bowl of Sayyidah Umm Salamah (may Allah be pleased with her) and began to say some things. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Eat in the name of Allah, your mother was overtaken by jealousy." Then the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) returned the bowl of Sayyidah Umm Salamah (may Allah be pleased with her) and said: "Food for food and vessel for vessel."
