Sayyiduna Jabir bin Abdullah (may Allah be pleased with them both) says: My maternal uncle, Jadd bin Qais, made me ride among the seventy men from the Ansar as a delegation to the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) on the night of Aqabah. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) came to us, and with him was his uncle, Sayyiduna Abbas (may Allah be pleased with him). The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "O uncle! Take a pledge from your nephews." So seventy men said to the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him): O Muhammad! Ask from us for your Lord and for yourself whatever you wish. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "For my Lord, I ask you to worship Him and not associate anything with Him, and for myself, I ask you to protect me just as you protect your own lives." They said: If we do this, what will we get? The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "You will have Paradise."
