Sayyiduna Ibn Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) says: A man had recently gotten married. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) sent out an expedition in which this man was also included. When the people returned, this man tried to hurry towards his house. Suddenly, he saw his wife standing at the door. He felt jealous and wanted to strike her with a spear. She said: Do not be hasty, first go inside the house and see what is inside. He went inside and saw a snake lying on the bed. He struck it with the spear, killing it, but the man himself also died. When this was reported to the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), he said: “There are some jinn settled in these houses.” And the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) forbade killing the jinn.
