Statement about the basic pillars of Islam
Hadith 48
حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ أَحْمَدَ بْنِ حَمَّادٍ أَبُو بِشْرٍ الدُّولابِيُّ ، بِمِصْرَ ، حَدَّثَنَا أَبِي ، حَدَّثَنَا أَشْعَثُ بْنُ عَطَّافٍ ، عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ حَبِيبِ بْنِ أَبِي ثَابِتٍ، عَنِ الشَّعْبِيِّ ، عَنْ جَرِيرِ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ الْبَجَلِيِّ ، عَنِ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَآلِهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، قَالَ : "بُنِيَ الإِسْلامُ عَلَى خَمْسٍ : شَهَادَةُ أَنْ لا إِلَهَ إِلا اللَّهُ ، وَإِقَامُ الصَّلاةِ ، وَإِيتَاءُ الزَّكَاةِ ، وَحَجُّ الْبَيْتِ ، وَصَوْمُ رَمَضَانَ "، لَمْ يَرْوِهِ عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ حَبِيبٍ ، إِلا أَشْعَثُ وَسَوْرَةُ بْنُ الْحَكَمِ الْقَاضِي
Sayyiduna Jarir bin Abdullah Bajali (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates from the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) that he (peace be upon him) said: "Islam is founded upon five things: Bearing witness that there is no god but Allah; establishing prayer; giving zakat; performing Hajj of the House of Allah; and fasting in Ramadan."
