Description of the condition of the emigrants after migration
Hadith 468
حَدَّثَنَا رَوْحُ بْنُ حَاتِمٍ أَبُو حَاتِمٍ الْبَغْدَادِيُّ ، حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ زُنْبُورٍ ، حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ جَابِرٍ ، عَنْ إِسْمَاعِيلَ بْنِ أَبِي خَالِدٍ ، عَنْ قَيْسِ بْنِ أَبِي حَازِمٍ ، عَنِ الْمُسْتَوْرِدِ بْنِ شَدَّادٍ الْفِهْرِيُّ ، قَالَ : قَالَ الْمِقْدَادُ بْنُ الأَسْوَدِ : "لَمَّا هَاجَرْنَا إِلَى الْمَدِينَةِ قَسَّمَنَا رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ عَشَرَةً عَشَرَةً ، فَكُنْتُ فِي الْعَشَرَةِ الَّتِي كَانَتْ مَعَ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، فَكَانَتْ لَنَا شَاةٌ نَشْرَبُ لَبَنَهَا بَيْنَنَا ، فَأَبْطَأَ عَلَيْنَا لَيْلَةً ، وَقَدْ رَفَعْنَا لَهُ نَصِيبَهُ ، فَقُمْتُ إِلَيْهِ وَأَنَا جَائِعٌ فَشَرِبْتُهُ ، فَجَاءَ النَّبِيُّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، وَلَمْ أَنَمْ بَعْدُ فَأَتَى الإِنَاءَ الَّذِي كُنَّا نَضَعُ فِيهِ اللَّبَنَ ، فَلَمْ يَجِدْ فِيهِ شَيْئًا ، فَقُلْتُ : يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ، أَلا أَذْبَحُهَا ؟ ، فَقَالَ : لا "، لَمْ يَرْوِهِ عَنْ إِسْمَاعِيلَ ، إِلا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ جَابِرٍ ، تَفَرَّدَ بِهِ مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ زُنْبُورٍ
Sayyiduna Miqdad bin Al-Aswad (may Allah be pleased with him) says: When we migrated to Madinah, the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) divided us into groups of ten, and I was among the ten who were with the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him). We had one goat, and we would drink its milk among ourselves. One night, the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) arrived late, so we set aside his share. I got up and felt hungry, so I drank that milk. When the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) arrived, I had not slept. He came to the vessel in which we used to keep milk for him, but found nothing there. So I said: O Messenger of Allah! Should I not slaughter it? The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "No."
