Hadith 421
حَدَّثَنَا أَحْمَدُ بْنُ سَهْلِ بْنِ الْوَلِيدِ السُّكَّرِيُّ الأَهْوَازِيُّ أَبُو غَسَّانَ ، حَدَّثَنَا خَالِدُ بْنُ يُوسُفَ بْنِ خَالِدٍ السَّمْعِيُّ ، حَدَّثَنَا أَبِي ، عَنْ زِيَادِ بْنِ سَعْدٍ ، عَنْ سُمَيٍّ ، عَنْ أَبِي صَالِحٍ ، عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ ، أَنّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ سُئِلَ عَنِ اللُّقَطَةِ ، فَقَالَ : "لا تَحِلُّ اللُّقَطَةُ ، مَنِ الْتَقَطَ شَيْئًا فَلْيُعَرِّفْهُ ، فَإِنْ جَاءَ صَاحِبُهَا فَلْيَرُدَّهَا إِلَيْهِ ، فَإِنْ لَمْ يَأْتِ فَلْيَتَصَدَّقْ بِهَا ، فَإِنْ جَاءَ فَلْيُخَيِّرْهُ بَيْنَ الأَجْرِ وَبَيْنَ الَّذِي لَهُ "، لَمْ يَرْوِهِ عَنْ زِيَادِ بْنِ سَعْدٍ ، إِلا يُوسُفُ بْنُ خَالِدٍ ، تَفَرَّدَ بِهِ ابْنُهُ عَنْهُ
Sayyiduna Abu Hurairah (may Allah be pleased with him) reports: The Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) was asked about lost property (luqatah), so he (peace be upon him) said: "Lost property is not lawful; whoever picks it up should make its identification known. If its owner comes, he should inform him; if he does not come, then he should give it in charity. Then, when the owner comes, he should give him the reward and give him the choice regarding his property."
