Hadith 408
حَدَّثَنَا حَدَّثَنَا طَيُّ بْنُ إِسْمَاعِيلَ بْنِ الْحَسَنِ بْنِ قَحْطَبَةَ بْنِ خَالِدِ بْنِ مَعْدَانَ الطَّائِيُّ ، بِبَغْدَادَ ، حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنُ صَالِحٍ الأَزْدِيُّ ، حَدَّثَنَا يَحْيَى بْنُ يَعْلَى الأَسْلَمِيُّ ، عَنْ يُونُسَ بْنِ خَبَّابٍ ، عَنْ مُجَاهِدٍ ، قَالَ : جَاءَ رَجُلٌ إِلَى الْحَسَنِ ، وَالْحُسَيْنِ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُمَا ، فَسَأَلَهُمَا فَقَالا : إِنَّ الْمَسْأَلَةَ لا تَصْلُحُ إِلا لِثَلاثَةٍ : لِحَاجَةٍ مُجْحِفَةٍ ، أَوْ لِحَمَالَةٍ مُثَقَّلَةٍ ، أَوْ دَيْنٍ فَادِحٍ ، فَأَعْطَيَاهُ ، ثُمَّ أَتَى ابْنُ عُمَرَ ، فَأَعْطَاهُ ، وَلَمْ يَسْأَلْهُ ، فَقَالَ لَهُ الرَّجُلُ : " أَتَيْتُ ابْنَيْ عَمِّكَ فَسَأَلانِي وَلَمْ تَسْأَلْنِي ، فَقَالَ ابْنُ عُمَرَ : " ابْنَا رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ إِنَّمَا كَانَا يَغَرَّانِ الْعِلْمَ غَرًّا "، لَمْ يَرْوِهِ عَنْ مُجَاهِدٍ ، إِلا يُونُسُ بْنُ خَبَّابٍ الْكُوفِيُّ
Mujahid says: A man came to Sayyiduna Hasan and Sayyiduna Husayn (may Allah be pleased with them) and asked them for something, so they said: Asking is only permissible for three types of people: one in severe need, or under a heavy guarantee, or in crushing debt. Then they gave him what he needed. Then he went to Sayyiduna Ibn Umar (may Allah be pleased with them) and he also gave him something, without asking anything. The man said: I went to your cousins and they questioned me, but you did not. Ibn Umar (may Allah be pleased with them) said: They are the sons of the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him), and they make knowledge into morsels and teach it.
