Hadith 384
حَدَّثَنَا عُثْمَانُ بْنُ عُبَيْدِ اللَّهِ الطَّلْحِيُّ الْكُوفِيُّ ، حَدَّثَنَا جَعْفَرُ بْنُ حُمَيْدٍ ، حَدَّثَنَا يَعْقُوبُ بْنُ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ الْقُمِّيُّ ، عَنْ عِيسَى ابْنِ جَارِيَةَ ، عَنْ جَابِرِ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ ، قَالَ : " صَلَّى بِنَا رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَآلِهِ وَسَلَّمَ فِي شَهْرِ رَمَضَانَ ثَمَانِ رَكَعَاتٍ وَأَوْتَرَ ، فَلَمَّا كَانَتِ الْقَابِلَةُ اجْتَمَعْنَا فِي الْمَسْجِدِ وَرَجَوْنَا أَنْ يَخْرُجَ ، فَلَمْ نزل فِيهِ حَتَّى أَصْبَحْنَا ، ثُمَّ دَخَلْنَا ، فَقُلْنَا : يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ، اجْتَمَعْنَا الْبَارِحَةَ فِي الْمَسْجِدِ ، وَرَجَوْنَا أَنْ تُصَلِّيَ بِنَا ، فَقَالَ : إِنِّي خَشِيتُ أَنْ يُكْتَبَ عَلَيْكُمْ "، لا يُرْوَى عَنْ جَابِرِ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ ، إِلا بِهَذَا الإِسْنَادِ . تَفَرَّدَ بِهِ يَعْقُوبُ ، وَهُوَ ثِقَةٌ
Sayyiduna Jabir bin Abdullah (may Allah be pleased with them both) says: The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) led us in eight rak‘ahs of Tarawih and Witr in the blessed month of Ramadan. Then, when the next night came, we gathered together in the mosque and waited in hope for you (the Prophet, peace be upon him) to come out. We remained like that until morning came, then we went back to our homes. We said: O Messenger of Allah! We stayed outside last night and hoped that you would lead us in prayer. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: “I feared that it might be made obligatory upon you.”
