Sayyiduna Ibn Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) narrates: The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) went to Lady Aisha and Lady Hafsa (may Allah be pleased with them both), and both of them were fasting. Then the Prophet (peace be upon him) left, and they both were eating something. The Prophet (peace be upon him) asked: "Were you not fasting?" They replied: "We were fasting, but this food was given to us as a gift and we liked it, so we started eating." The Prophet (peace be upon him) said: "Fast another day in its place."
