Description of fasting for pregnant and breastfeeding women
Hadith 376
حَدَّثَنَا الْحُسَيْنُ بْنُ سَهْلِ بْنِ الْحُرَيْثِ الْمِصْرِيُّ ، حَدَّثَنَا هِشَامُ بْنُ عَمَّارٍ ، حَدَّثَنَا الرَّبِيعُ بْنُ بَدْرٍ التَّمِيمِيُّ ، حَدَّثَنَا سَعِيدٌ الْجُرَيْرِيُّ ، عَنِ الْحَسَنِ ، عَنْ أَنَسِ بْنِ مَالِكٍ ، قَالَ : قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : "فِي الْحُبْلَى الَّتِي تَخَافُ عَلَى نَفْسِهَا أَنْ تُفْطِرَ ، وَفِي الْمُرْضِعِ الَّتِي تَخَافُ عَلَى وَلَدِهَا "، لَمْ يَرْوِهِ عَنْ سَعِيدٍ الْجُرَيْرِيِّ ، إِلا الرَّبِيعُ بْنُ بَدْرٍ ، تَفَرَّدَ بِهِ هِشَامُ بْنُ عَمَّار
Sayyiduna Anas bin Malik (may Allah be pleased with him) reports: The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said regarding a pregnant woman: "If her life is in danger, she may break her fast." And regarding a nursing woman, he said: "If she fears for her child, she too may break her fast."
