Description of the punishment of the grave
Hadith 358
حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ الرَّبِيعِ بْنِ سُلَيْمَانَ الْجِيزِيُّ الْمِصْرِيُّ ، حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ عَبْدِ الْحَكَمِ ، حَدَّثَنَا إِسْحَاقُ بْنُ الْفُرَاتِ ، حَدَّثَنَا يَحْيَى بْنُ أَيُّوبَ ، عَنْ يَحْيَى بْنِ سَعِيدٍ الأَنْصَارِيِّ ، عَنْ نَافِعٍ ، عَنِ ابْنِ عُمَرَ ، قَالَ : سَمِعْتُ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَآلِهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، يَقُولُ : "إِنَّ أَحَدَكُمْ إِذَا مَاتَ عُرِضَ عَلَيْهِ مَقْعَدُهُ بِالْغَدَاةِ وَالْعَشِيِّ إِنْ كَانَ مِنْ أَهْلِ الْجَنَّةِ فَمِنَ الْجَنَّةِ ، وَإِنْ كَانَ مِنْ أَهْلِ النَّارِ فَمِنَ النَّارِ ، فَيُقَالُ : هَذَا مَقْعَدُكَ حَتَّى يَبْعَثَكَ اللَّهُ عَزَّ وَجَلَّ إِلَيْهِ يَوْمَ الْقِيَامَةِ "، لَمْ يَرْوِهِ عَنْ يَحْيَى بْنِ سَعِيدٍ ، إِلا يَحْيَى بْنُ أَيُّوبَ ، تَفَرَّدَ بِهِ إِسْحَاقُ بْنُ الْفُرَاتِ
Sayyiduna Ibn Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) says: I heard the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) say: "When any one of you dies, his place of residence is presented to him morning and evening. If he is among the people of Paradise, then a place in Paradise is shown to him; if he is among the people of Hell, then a place in Hell is shown to him. Then it is said: This is your place, until Allah raises you on the Day of Resurrection."
