Hadith 351
حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ مُحَمَّدٍ الْعَبَّاسِيُّ الأَصْبَهَانِيُّ ، حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ الْمُغِيرَةِ ، حَدَّثَنَا النُّعْمَانُ بْنُ عَبْدِ السَّلامِ ، عَنْ عِيسَى بْنِ الضَّحَّاكِ ، عَنِ الأَعْمَشِ ، عَنْ أَبِي وَائِلٍ شَقِيقِ بْنِ سَلَمَةَ ، عَنْ أُمِّ سَلَمَةَ زَوْجِ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَآلِهِ وَسَلَّمَ وَرَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهَا ، عَنِ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَآلِهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، قَالَ : "إِذَا حَضَرْتُمُ الْمَيِّتَ ، فَقُولُوا خَيْرًا ، فَإِنَّ الْمَلائِكَةَ يُؤَمِّنُونَ ، فَقُلْتُ : يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ، مَا نَقُولُ ؟ ، قَالَ : قُولِي : اللَّهُمَّ ، اغْفِرْ لَنَا وَلَهُ ، وَارْحَمْهُ ، وَاعْقُبْنِي مِنْهُ عُقْبَى صَالِحَةً ، قَالَتْ : فَأَعْقَبَنِي اللَّهُ مِنْهُ مُحَمَّدًا صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَآلِهِ وَسَلَّمَ "، لَمْ يَرْوِهِ عَنْ عِيسَى بْنِ الضَّحَّاكِ أَخِي الْجَرَّاحِ بْنِ الضَّحَّاكِ ، إِلا النُّعْمَانُ
Sayyida Umm Salamah (may Allah be pleased with her) says that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "When you attend the funeral of a deceased person, the angels also say Ameen." I said: O Messenger of Allah! What should we say? The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Say: ﴿اللّٰهُمَّ اغْفِرْ لَنَا وَلَهُ وَارْحَمْهُ وَاعْقُبْنِي مِنْهُ عُقْبَى صَالِحَةً﴾ 'O Allah! Forgive us and him, have mercy on him, and grant me in his place a good substitute.'" So Allah Almighty granted me, in exchange for him, the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him).
