´It was narrated from ‘Abdullah bin Mas’ud that the Prophet (ﷺ) said:` “Allah is Witr and He loves the odd (numbered), so perform Witr, O people of the Qur’an.” A Bedouin said: ‘What is the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) saying?’ He said: ‘That is not for you or your companions.’”

Benefits and Issues:
➊ The last sentence is most likely the statement of a Companion. When the Bedouin sought to understand the meaning of the Prophetic instruction (sallallahu alayhi wa sallam), the Companion said that it would be difficult for you to act upon the night prayer (tahajjud) and other such arduous deeds. Therefore, do not inquire about these matters. It is also possible that when the Bedouin asked this question, this answer was given not by a Companion (radi Allahu anhu) but by the Messenger of Allah (sallallahu alayhi wa sallam) himself: that you people should adhere only to the obligatory acts, for they are sufficient for your salvation. Supererogatory prayers and tahajjud, etc., can be performed by those who have a great eagerness for good deeds. And Allah knows best.
➋ If by “people of the Qur’an” is meant those who have memorized the Qur’an (huffaz), then by “witr” is meant the night prayer (tahajjud). And the Bedouins were not memorizers of the Qur’an. Therefore, it was said that this issue does not pertain to common people like you.
➌ According to some scholars, this narration is authentic. For details, see benefit number 1 of the previous hadith.
