Delaying obligatory prayer if food is served
Hadith 297
حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ أَبَانَ الأَصْبَهَانِيُّ ، حَدَّثَنَا إِسْمَاعِيلُ بْنُ عَمْرٍو الْبَجَلِيُّ ، حَدَّثَنَا زُهَيْرُ بْنُ مُعَاوِيَةَ ، عَنْ سُهَيْلِ بْنِ مُعَاوِيَةَ بْنِ أَبِي صَالِحٍ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ ، عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ ، قَالَ : قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَآلِهِ وَسَلَّمَ : "إِذَا حَضَرَ الْعَشَاءُ وَأُقِيمَتُ الصَّلاةُ فَابْدَءُوا بِالْعَشَاءِ "، لَمْ يَرْوِهِ عَنْ سُهَيْلٍ ، إِلا زُهَيْرٌ ، وَلا عَنْهُ إِلا إِسْمَاعِيلُ ، تَفَرَّدَ بِهِ مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ أَبَانَ
Sayyiduna Abu Hurairah (may Allah be pleased with him) reports that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "When the night meal is prepared and the prayer is established, then eat the night meal first."
