Prohibition of coming to the prayer place after eating garlic
Hadith 293
حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ بُكَيْرٍ الطَّيَالِسِيُّ الْبَصْرِيُّ ، حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو الْوَلِيدِ الطَّيَالِسِيُّ ، حَدَّثَنَا الْحَكَمُ بْنُ طَهْمَانَ أَبُو عَزَّةَ الدَّبَّاغُ ، حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو الرَّبَابِ مَوْلَى مَعْقِلِ بْنِ يَسَارٍ ، عَنْ مَعْقِلِ بْنِ يَسَارٍ ، قَالَ : " كُنَّا مَعَ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَآلِهِ وَسَلَّمَ فِي مَسِيرٍ ، فَأَتَيْنَا عَلَى مَكَانٍ فِيهِ ثُومٌ ، فَأَصَابَ نَاسٌ مِنَ الْمُسْلِمِينَ مِنْهُ ، وَجَاءُوا إِلَى الْمُصَلَّى ، فَقَالَ : مَنْ أَكَلَ مِنْ هَذِهِ الشَّجَرَةِ فَلا يَقْرَبَنَّ مُصَلانَا "، لا يُرْوَى عَنْ مَعْقِلِ بْنِ يَسَارٍ ، إِلا بِهَذَا الإِسْنَادِ ، تَفَرَّدَ بِهِ أَبُو عَزَّةَ الدَّبَّاغُ ، وَكَانَتْ هَذِهِ الْقِصَّةُ يَوْمَ خَيْبَرَ
Sayyiduna Ma’qil bin Yasar (may Allah be pleased with him) says: We were on a journey with the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him), and we reached a place where there was garlic. Some people from among the Muslims took it and brought it into the place of prayer. So the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: “Whoever has eaten from this plant should not come to our place of prayer.”
