The chapter on the scorpion being an accursed animal
Hadith 287
حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ الْحُسَيْنِ الأَشْنَانِيُّ الْكُوفِيُّ ، حَدَّثَنَا عَبَّادُ بْنُ يَعْقُوبَ الأَسَدِيُّ ، حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ فُضَيْلٍ ، عَنْ مُطَرِّفِ بْنِ طَرِيفٍ ، عَنِ الْمِنْهَالِ بْنِ عُمَرَ ، عَنْ مُحَمَّدِ ابْنِ الْحَنَفِيَّةِ ، عَنْ عَلِيٍّ ، قَالَ : " لَدَغَتِ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَآلِهِ وَسَلَّمَ عَقْرَبٌ وَهُوَ يُصَلِّي ، فَلَمَّا فَرَغَ ، قَالَ : لَعَنَ اللَّهُ الْعَقْرَبَ لا تَدَعُ مُصَلِّيًا وَلا غَيْرَهُ ، ثُمَّ دَعَا بِمَاءٍ وَمِلْحٍ ، وَجَعَلَ يَمْسَحُ عَلَيْهَا وَيَقْرَأُ بِ قُلْ يَأَيُّهَا الْكَافِرُونَ ، وَ قُلْ أَعُوذُ بِرَبِّ الْفَلَقِ ، وَ قُلْ أَعُوذُ بِرَبِّ النَّاسِ "، لَمْ يَرْوِهِ عَنْ مُطَرِّفٍ ، إِلا ابْنُ فُضَيْلٍ
Sayyiduna Ali (may Allah be pleased with him) says: Once, while the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) was praying, a scorpion stung him. When he finished the prayer, he said: "May Allah curse the scorpion; it does not spare a person praying nor anyone else." Then the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) asked for water and salt, and kept rubbing it on the affected area while reciting these Surahs: Surah Al-Kafirun, Surah Al-Falaq, and Surah An-Nas.
