The best deed during travel is to shorten the prayer
Hadith 278
حَدَّثَنَا الْقَاسِمُ بْنُ عَبَّادٍ الْخَطَّابِيُّ الْبَصْرِيُّ ، حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ عَبْدِ الْعَزِيزِ بْنِ أَبِي رِزْمَةَ ، حَدَّثَنَا عَلِيُّ بْنُ الْحَسَنِ بْنِ شَقِيقٍ ، عَنْ أَبِي حَمْزَةَ السُّكَّرِيِّ ، عَنْ مَنْصُورِ بْنِ الْمُعْتَمِرِ ، عَنْ إِبْرَاهِيمَ النَّخَعِيِّ ، عَنْ عَلْقَمَةَ بْنِ قَيْسٍ ، عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ مَسْعُودٍ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ ، قَالَ : "صَلَّيْتُ مَعَ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَآلِهِ وَسَلَّمَ فِي السَّفَرِ رَكْعَتَيْنِ ، وَمَعَ أَبِي بَكْرٍ رَكْعَتَيْنِ ، وَمَعَ عُمَرَ رَكْعَتَيْنِ ، ثُمَّ تَفَرَّقَتْ بِكُمُ السُّبُلُ فَوَاللَّهِ لَوَدِدْتُ أَنْ أَحْظَى مِنْ أَرْبَعِ رَكَعَاتٍ رَكْعَتَيْنِ مُتَقَبَّلَتَيْنِ "، لَمْ يَرْوِهِ عَنْ مَنْصُورٍ ، إِلا أَبُو حَمْزَةَ السُّكَّرِيُّ
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Mas'ud, may Allah be pleased with him, who says: I performed two rak'ahs with the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, during a journey, and also with Sayyiduna Abu Bakr and Sayyiduna Umar, may Allah be pleased with them both. Then the ways became different. By Allah! If even two out of these four are accepted by Allah for me, I would love it very much.
