Hadith 277

حَدَّثَنَا الْقَاسِمُ بْنُ عَبْدِ الْوَارِثِ الْوَرَّاقُ الْبَغْدَادِيُّ ، حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو الرَّبِيعِ الزَّهْرَانِيُّ ، حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو حَفْصٍ الأَبَّارُ عُمَرُ بْنُ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ ، عَنْ يَحْيَى بْنِ سَعِيدٍ الأَنْصَارِيِّ ، عَنْ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ إِبْرَاهِيمَ بْنِ الْحَارِثِ ، عَنْ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنِ أَبِي عَمْرَةَ الأَنْصَارِيِّ ، عَنْ عُثْمَانَ بْنِ عَفَّانَ ، قَالَ : قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَآلِهِ وَسَلَّمَ : "صَلاةُ الْعِشَاءِ فِي جَمَاعَةٍ تَعْدِلُ بِقِيَامِ لَيْلَةٍ ، وَصَلاةُ الْفَجْرِ بِجَمَاعَةٍ تَعْدِلُ بِقِيَامِ لَيْلَةٍ "، لَمْ يَرْوِهِ عَنْ يَحْيَى ، إِلا أَبُو حَفْصٍ ، تَفَرَّدَ بِهِ أَبُو الرَّبِيعِ
Sayyiduna Uthman bin Affan (may Allah be pleased with him) reports that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "One congregational 'Isha prayer is equal to standing in prayer for half the night, and performing the Fajr prayer in congregation is equal to standing in prayer for the remaining half of the night."

And whoever, after performing these prayers in congregation, also stands (in prayer) during the night, his rank will be exceedingly high.
