The chapter on the emphasis of joining the rows in prayer
Hadith 217
حَدَّثَنَا جَعْفَرُ بْنُ الصَّبَاحِ الأَصْبَهَانِيُّ ، حَدَّثَنَا الْحَسَنُ بْنُ حَمَّادٍ سَجَّادَةُ ، حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو خَالِدٍ الأَحْمَرُ ، عَنِ الْحَسَنِ بْنِ عُبَيْدِ اللَّهِ النَّخَعِيُّ ، عَنْ طَلْحَةَ بْنِ مُصَرِّفٍ ، عَنْ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنِ عَوْسَجَةَ ، عَنِ الْبَرَاءِ بْنِ عَازِبٍ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ ، قَالَ : كَانَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، يَقُولُ : "تَرَاصُّوا فِي الصُّفُوفِ ، وَلا يَتَخَلَّلْكُمُ الشَّيْطَانُ كَأَوْلادِ الْحَذَفِ ، قِيلَ : وَمَا أَوْلادُ الْحَذَفِ ؟ ، قَالَ : ضَأْنٌ سُودٌ تَكُونُ بِأَرْضِ الْيَمَنِ "، لَمْ يَرْوِهِ عَنِ الْحَسَنِ بْنِ عُبَيْدِ اللَّهِ ، إِلا أَبُو خَالِدٍ الأَحْمَرُ
Sayyiduna Bara’ bin Azib (may Allah be pleased with him) says that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) used to say: “Keep your rows joined together, for the devil enters among you as does the small black lamb.” It was asked: O Messenger of Allah! What is this ‘hazaf’? He replied: “A black lamb that is found in the land of Yemen.”
