Hadith 160
حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ الْعَبَّاسِ الْمُؤَدِّبُ أَبُو عَبْدِ اللَّهِ الْبَغْدَادِيُّ ، حَدَّثَنَا سُرَيْجُ بْنُ النُّعْمَانِ الْجَوْهَرِيُّ ، حَدَّثَنَا الْحَكَمُ بْنُ عَبْدِ الْمَلِكِ ، عَنْ عَمَّارٍ، عَنْ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنِ أَبِي لَيْلَى ، عَنْ مُعَاذِ بْنِ جَبَلٍ ، قَالَ : " بَيْنَمَا النَّبِيُّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَآلِهِ وَسَلَّمَ فِي بَعْضِ أَسْفَارِهِ إِذْ سَمِعَ مُنَادِيًا يَقُولُ : اللَّهُ أَكْبَرُ ، اللَّهُ أَكْبَرُ ، فَقَالَ : عَلَى الْفِطْرَةِ ، فَقَالَ : أَشْهَدُ أَنْ لا إِلَهَ إِلا اللَّهُ ، فَقَالَ : شَهِدْتَ بِشَهَادَةِ الْحَقِّ ، فَقَالَ : أَشْهَدُ أَنَّ مُحَمَّدًا رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ، فَقَالَ : خَرَجَ مِنَ النَّارِ ، ثُمَّ قَالَ : انْظُرُوا فَسَتَجِدُونَهُ رَاعِيًا مَعْزِيًّا ، وَإِمَّا مُكَلِّبًا حَضَرَتِ الصَّلاةُ ، فَنَادَى بِهَا "، فَنَظَرُوا ، فَوَجَدُوهُ رَاعِيًا عَمَّارٌ الَّذِي رَوَى هَذَا الْحَدِيثَ هُوَ الْعَبْسِيُّ كُوفِيُّ ثِقَةٌ ، رَوَاهُ عَنْهُ الثَّوْرِيُّ ، وَشُعْبَةُ . وَلَمْ يَرْوِ هَذَا الْحَدِيثَ عَنْ عَمَّارٍ ، إِلا الْحَكَمُ بْنُ عَبْدِ الْمَلِكِ ، تَفَرَّدَ بِهِ شُرَيْحُ بْنُ النُّعْمَانِ ، وَلا يُرْوَى هَذَا الْحَدِيثُ عَنْ مُعَاذٍ ، إِلا بِهَذَا الإِسْنَادِ
Sayyiduna Mu'adh bin Jabal (may Allah be pleased with him) says: Once, during one of his journeys, the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) heard the voice of a caller to prayer who was saying: "Allahu Akbar, Allahu Akbar (Allah is the Greatest, Allah is the Greatest)." So the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "This is upon the natural disposition of Islam." Then he said: "Ashhadu an la ilaha illallah (I bear witness that there is no deity except Allah)," so the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "You have borne witness to the truth." Then he said: "Ashhadu anna Muhammadur Rasulullah (I bear witness that Muhammad is the Messenger of Allah)," so the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "He has been saved from the Fire." Then he said: "Look at him, he will either be a shepherd or a man with hunting dogs." When the time for prayer came, he was called, and they saw that he was a shepherd.
