Ruling on obligatory bath for a new Muslim
Hadith 135
حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ إِدْرِيسَ بْنِ مُطَيَّبٍ الْمِصِّيصِيُّ ، حَدَّثَنَا سُلَيْمُ بْنُ مَنْصُورِ بْنِ عَمَّارٍ ، حَدَّثَنَا أَبِي ، حَدَّثَنَا مَعْرُوفٌ أَبُو الْخَطَّابِ ، عَنْ وَاثِلَةَ بْنِ الأَسْقَعِ : " لَمَّا أَسْلَمْتُ أَتَيْتُ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَآلِهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، فَقَالَ لِي : اغْتَسِلْ بِمَاءٍ وَسِدْرٍ وَاحْلِقْ عَنْكَ شَعَرَ الْكُفْرِ "، لَمْ يَرْوِهِ عَنْ وَاثِلَةَ بْنِ الأَسْقَعِ ، إِلا بِهَذَا الإِسْنَادِ ، تَفَرَّدَ بِهِ مَنْصُورُ بْنُ عَمَّارٍ
Sayyiduna Wathilah bin Al-Asqa’ (may Allah be pleased with him) says: When I became Muslim, I went to the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), and he said to me: “Perform ghusl (ritual bath) with water and lote tree leaves, and remove the hair of disbelief from your body.”
