Sayyiduna Anas bin Malik, may Allah be pleased with him, says: The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, went towards a land which is called Bathan, and said: "O Anas! Pour water for me for ablution." So I poured water for him in a vessel. When he, peace and blessings be upon him, returned after relieving himself, he went towards that vessel, and a cat had come and put its mouth in it. So he, peace and blessings be upon him, waited for a while until the cat drank the water. Then he, peace and blessings be upon him, performed ablution with it. So I mentioned to him about the cat, and he, peace and blessings be upon him, said: "O Anas! The cat is from among the household items; it does not make anything impure, nor does it make it dirty."
