It is narrated from Sayyiduna Bilal (may Allah be pleased with him) with the same chain that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) would perform the Eid prayers before the sermon, then in the first rak'ah he would say seven takbirs before the recitation, then in the second rak'ah he would say five takbirs before the recitation. And for Eid he would go on foot and return on foot. And he would say takbirs during the sermon, and he would say many takbirs in the two Eids.

‘Abdur-Rahman bin Sa’d bin ‘Ammar bin Sa’d, the Mu’adhdhin of the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ), narrated from his father, from his father, from his grandfather, that the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) used to say the Takbir in the ‘Eid prayer, seven times in the first (Rak’ah) before reciting Qur’an, and five times in the second before reciting Qur’an.

Benefits and Issues: (1) This is a particular characteristic of the Eid prayer: That in it, in addition to the takbirs recited in other prayers, additional takbirs are also recited. These are called "takbirat-e-zawaid" or extra takbirs. That is, those takbirs which are recited in the Eid prayer in addition to the takbirs of other prayers.
(2) The number of extra takbirs is seven in the first rak‘ah and five in the second rak‘ah.
(3) These takbirs are recited before the recitation (qira’ah).
(4) The opening takbir (takbir tahrimah) is not included among these takbirs.
