Statement about loving the Prophet (peace be upon him)
Hadith 11
حَدَّثَنَا أَحْمَدُ بْنُ إِبْرَاهِيمَ بْنِ عَنْبَرِ الْبَصْرِيُّ ، حَدَّثَنَا مُوسَى بْنُ مَيْمُونِ بْنِ مُوسَى الْمَرْئِيُّ ، حَدَّثَنَا أَبِي ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ ، عَنْ جَدِّهِ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنِ صَفْوَانَ بْنِ قُدَامَةَ ، قَالَ : هَاجَرَ أَبِي صَفْوَانُ إِلَى النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، فَبَايَعَهُ عَلَى الإِسْلامِ ، " فَمَدَّ النَّبِيُّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يَدَهُ ، فَمَسَحَ عَلَيْهَا ، فَقَالَ صَفْوَانُ : إِنِّي أُحِبُّكَ يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ، فَقَالَ لَهُ النَّبِيُّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : الْمَرْءُ مَعَ مَنْ أَحَبَّ "، لا يُرْوَى عَنْ صَفْوَانَ بْنِ قُدَامَةَ ، إِلا بِهَذَا الإِسْنَادِ ، تَفَرَّدَ بِهِ ابْنُ مَيْمُونٍ
Sayyiduna Abdur Rahman bin Safwan bin Qudamah narrates that my father Safwan (may Allah be pleased with him) migrated to the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) and pledged allegiance to him on Islam. The Prophet (peace be upon him) extended his hand and placed it on his (Safwan’s) hand, so Safwan (may Allah be pleased with him) said: O Messenger of Allah! I love you. The Prophet (peace be upon him) said: “A person will be with the one whom he loves on the Day of Resurrection.”
