Allah's mercy for showing mercy to one's children
Hadith 1030
حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ دَاوُدَ ، يَزْدَادَ ، التُّوزِيُّ الْبَصْرِيُّ ، حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ سُلَيْمَانَ الأَسَدِيُّ كُوَيْنٌ ، حَدَّثَنَا خَدِيجُ بْنُ مُعَاوِيَةَ الْجُعْفِيُّ ، عَنْ أَبِي إِسْحَاقَ ، عَنْ شَقِيقِ بْنِ سَلَمَةَ ، عَنِ الْحَسَنِ بْنِ عَلِيٍّ ، قَالَ : " جَاءَتِ امْرَأَةٌ إِلَى رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَآلِهِ وَسَلَّمَ مَعَهَا ابْنَاهَا ، فَسَأَلَتْهُ ، فَأَعْطَاهَا ثَلاثَ تَمَرَاتٍ ، لِكُلِّ وَاحِدٍ مِنْهُمْ تَمْرَةٌ ، فَأَعْطَتْ كُلَّ وَاحِدٍ مِنْهُمْ تَمْرَةً ، فَأَكَلاهَا ، ثُمَّ نَظَرَا إِلَى أُمِّهِمَا ، فَشَقَّتِ التَّمْرَةَ نِصْفَيْنِ ، وَأَعْطَتْ كُلَّ وَاحِدٍ مِنْهُمَا نِصْفَ تَمْرَةٍ ، فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَآلِهِ وَسَلَّمَ : قَدْ رَحِمَهَا اللَّهُ بَرَحْمَتِهَا ابْنَيْهَا "، لَمْ يَرْوِهِ عَنْ أَبِي إِسْحَاقَ ، إِلا خَدِيجٌ ، وَلا يُرْوَى عَنِ الْحَسَنِ بْنِ عَلِيٍّ ، إِلا بِهَذَا الإِسْنَادِ
Sayyiduna Hasan bin Ali (may Allah be pleased with them both) says: A woman came to the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him), and with her were her two sons. She came and asked the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) for something, so he gave her three dates, as if there was one date for each of them. She gave each of her sons one date. They ate them, then both of them began to look towards their mother, so she split the third date and divided it equally between them. The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Because of her mercy towards her sons, Allah Almighty also had mercy on this woman."
