The Book of Merits
(اسْتِقْرَارُ نُورِ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ فِي الشَّامِ)
(The settling of the light of the Messenger of Allah, peace be upon him, in Sham)
Hadith 6280
وَعَنْ عُمَرَ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ قَالَ: قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ: «رَأَيْتُ عَمُودًا مِنْ نُورٍ خَرَجَ مِنْ تَحْتِ رَأْسِي سَاطِعًا حَتَّى اسْتَقَرَّ بِالشَّامِ» . رَوَاهُمَا الْبَيْهَقِيُّ فِي «دَلَائِل النُّبُوَّة»
`Umar reported God's messenger as saying, "I saw a pillar of light which came forth from under my head and spread till it settled in Syria." Baihaqi transmitted the two traditions in Dala'il an-nubuwa.
