The Book of Virtues and Characteristics
(أَثَرُ بَدْدُعَاءِ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ)
(The effect of the curse of the Messenger of Allah, peace be upon him)
Hadith 5898
وَعَنْ أَنَسٍ قَالَ: إِنَّ رَجُلًا كَانَ يَكْتُبُ لِلنَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ فَارْتَدَّ عَنِ الْإِسْلَامِ وَلَحِقَ بِالْمُشْرِكِينَ فَقَالَ النَّبِيُّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ: «إِنَّ الْأَرْضَ لَا تَقْبَلُهُ» . فَأَخْبَرَنِي أَبُو طَلْحَةَ أَنَّهُ أَتَى الْأَرْضَ الَّتِي مَاتَ فِيهَا فَوَجَدَهُ مَنْبُوذًا فَقَالَ: مَا شَأْنُ هَذَا؟ فَقَالُوا: دَفَنَّاهُ مِرَارًا فَلَمْ تَقْبَلْهُ الأَرْض. مُتَّفق عَلَيْهِ
Anas said:A man, who had acted as secretary to the Prophet apostatised from Islam and attached himself to the polytheists, so the Prophet said, "The earth will not accept him." Abu Talha told me he came to the land in which the man died and found him cast on the surface of the ground. He asked the reason and was told by the people that they had buried him several times, but that the earth would not accept him. (Bukhari and Muslim.)
