كتاب الرقاقThe Book of Heart-Softeners
(الذِّلَّةُ وَالفَضِيحَةُ لِلْمُرَائِي)
(Humiliation and disgrace for the hypocrite)
Hadith 5316
وَعَنْ جُنْدُبٍ قَالَ: قَالَ النَّبِيُّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ: «مَنْ سَمَّعَ سَمَّعَ اللَّهُ بِهِ وَمَنْ يُرَائِي يُرَائِي اللَّهُ بِهِ» . مُتَّفَقٌ عَلَيْهِ
Jundub (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: "Whoever performs a deed for the sake of fame, Allah will disgrace him (before the people) on the Day of Resurrection (because he acted with that intention), and whoever shows off, Allah will expose him (to the people) as a show-off." Agreed upon.
