كتاب الرقاقThe Book of Heart-Softeners
(مَفْهُومُ تَرْكِ الدُّنْيَا)
(The concept of abandoning the world)
Hadith 5301
وَعَنْ أَبِي ذَرٍّ عَنِ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَالَ: «الزَّهَادَةُ فِي الدُّنْيَا لَيْسَتْ بِتَحْرِيم وَلَا إِضَاعَةِ الْمَالِ وَلَكِنَّ الزَّهَادَةَ فِي الدُّنْيَا أَنْ لَا تَكُونَ بِمَا فِي يَدَيْكَ أَوْثَقَ بِمَا فِي يَد اللَّهِ وَأَنْ تَكُونَ فِي ثَوَابِ الْمُصِيبَةِ إِذَا أَنْتَ أُصِبْتَ بِهَا أَرْغَبَ فِيهَا لَوْ أَنَّهَا أُبْقِيَتْ لَكَ» رَوَاهُ التِّرْمِذِيُّ وَابْنُ مَاجَهْ وَقَالَ التِّرْمِذِيُّ: هَذَا حَدِيثٌ غَرِيبٌ وَعَمْرُو بْنُ وَاقِدٍ الرَّاوِي مُنكر الحَدِيث
Abu Dharr (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates from the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him), he said: "Renunciation of the world (zuhd) does not mean making the lawful unlawful and wasting wealth, but true renunciation of the world is that what is in your hand is not more trustworthy to you than what is in Allah’s hand, and that when you are afflicted with a calamity, you do not wish that it had not happened to you, hoping for the reward of that calamity." (Tirmidhi, Ibn Majah) Imam Tirmidhi said: This hadith is gharib, and the narrator Amr bin Waqid is munkar al-hadith. Its chain is weak. Narrated by Tirmidhi and Ibn Majah.
