كتاب الرقاقThe Book of Heart-Softeners
(عُمْرٌ طَوِيلٌ مَعَ أَعْمَالٍ صَالِحَةٍ)
(A long life with righteous deeds)
Hadith 5293
وَعَن عبدِ الله بنِ شدَّادٍ قَالَ إِنَّ نَفرا من بني عذرةثلاثة أَتَوُا النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ فَأَسْلَمُوا قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ: «مَنْ يَكْفِينِيهِمْ؟» قَالَ طَلْحَةُ: أَنَا. فَكَانُوا عِنْدَهُ فَبَعَثَ النَّبِيُّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ بَعْثًا فَخَرَجَ فِيهِ أَحَدُهُمْ فَاسْتُشْهِدَ ثُمَّ بَعَثَ بَعْثًا فَخَرَجَ فِيهِ الْآخَرُ فَاسْتُشْهِدَ ثُمَّ مَاتَ الثَّالِثُ عَلَى فِرَاشِهِ. قَالَ: قَالَ طَلْحَةُ: فَرَأَيْتُ هَؤُلَاءِ الثَّلَاثَةَ فِي الْجَنَّةِ وَرَأَيْتُ الْمَيِّتَ عَلَى فِرَاشِهِ أَمَامَهُمْ وَالَّذِي اسْتُشْهِدَ آخِرًا يَلِيهِ وَأَوَّلَهُمْ يَلِيهِ فَدَخَلَنِي مِنْ ذَلِكَ فَذَكَرْتُ لِلنَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسلم فَقَالَ: «وَمَا أَنْكَرْتَ مِنْ ذَلِكَ؟ لَيْسَ أَحَدٌ أَفْضَلَ عِنْدَ اللَّهِ مِنْ مُؤْمِنٍ يُعَمَّرُ فِي الْإِسْلَام لتسبيحه وتكبيره وتهليله»
Abdullah bin Shaddad (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates: Three men from Banu Udhrah came to the service of the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) and they accepted Islam. The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: "Who will take responsibility for their (food and drink) on my behalf?" Talhah (may Allah be pleased with him) said: I will. So they stayed with him. Then the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) sent out an army, and one of them went with that army and was martyred. Then he sent out another army, and the second man went with it and he too was martyred. Then the third man died on his bed. The narrator says, Talhah (may Allah be pleased with him) said: I saw all three of them in Paradise (in a dream), and the one who died on his bed was ahead of them, the one who was martyred later was with him, and the one who was martyred first was with the second (martyr). This confused me, so I mentioned it to the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him), and he said: "What is strange to you about this? There is no one better in the sight of Allah than a believer who is granted a long life in Islam so that he may glorify, magnify, and declare the oneness of Allah by saying 'La ilaha illallah'." Its chain is weak. Narrated by Ahmad.
