Mishkat al-Masabih
كتاب الرقاقThe Book of Heart-Softeners
(رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ رَسَمَ أَرْبَعَةَ خُطُوطٍ لِلتَّوْضِيحِ)
(The Messenger of Allah, peace be upon him, drew four lines to explain)
Hadith 5269
وَعَنْ أَنَسٍ قَالَ: خَطَّ النَّبِيُّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ خُطُوطًا فَقَالَ: «هَذَا الْأَمَلُ وَهَذَا أَجَلُهُ فَبَيْنَمَا هُوَ كَذَلِكَ إِذْ جَاءَهُ الْخَطُّ الأقربُ» . رَوَاهُ البُخَارِيّ
Anas (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates: The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) drew some lines and said: "This is hope, and this is his death. While he is in this state, the nearest line suddenly reaches him." Narrated by al-Bukhari.
