Mishkat al-Masabih
كتاب الرقاقThe Book of Heart-Softeners
(لَا تَخْتَارُوا «الضَّيْعَةَ»)
(Do not choose “wastefulness”)
Hadith 5178
وَعَنِ ابْنِ مَسْعُودٍ قَالَ: قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ: «لَا تَتَّخِذُوا الضَّيْعَةَ فَتَرْغَبُوا فِي الدُّنْيَا» . رَوَاهُ التِّرْمِذِيُّ وَالْبَيْهَقِيُّ فِي «شعب الْإِيمَان»
Ibn Mas'ud (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Do not establish estates, otherwise you will become engrossed in the world." Hasan, narrated by Tirmidhi and Al-Bayhaqi in Shu'ab al-Iman.
