Mishkat al-Masabih
كتاب الرقاقThe Book of Heart-Softeners
(غِنَى القَلْبِ هُوَ الغِنَى الحَقِيقِيُّ)
(The richness of the heart is true richness)
Hadith 5170
وَعَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ قَالَ: قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ: «لَيْسَ الْغِنَى عَنْ كَثْرَةِ الْعَرَضِ وَلَكِنَّ الْغِنَى غِنَى النَّفس» مُتَّفق عَلَيْهِ.
Abu Hurairah (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Wealth is not in the abundance of possessions and goods, rather true wealth is the richness of the soul (i.e., contentment)." Agreed upon.
