كتاب الرقاقThe Book of Heart-Softeners
(مَثَلُ الدُّنْيَا وَالآخِرَةِ)
(The parable of the world and the Hereafter)
Hadith 5156
وَعَنِ الْمُسْتَوْرِدِ بْنِ شَدَّادٍ قَالَ: سَمِعْتُ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يَقُولُ: «وَاللَّهِ مَا الدُّنْيَا فِي الْآخِرَةِ إِلَّا مِثْلُ مَا يجعلُ أحدُكم إصبعَه فِي اليمِّ فَلْينْظر بِمَ يرجع» . رَوَاهُ مُسلم
Al-Mustawrid bin Shaddad (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates: I heard the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) say: "By Allah! The example of this world in comparison to the Hereafter is just like one of you dipping his finger into the sea, then he should see how much (water) it returns with." Narrated by Muslim.
