Abu Sa'id al-Khudri (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates: The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) stood up to deliver a sermon to us after the Asr prayer, and he mentioned all the events that would occur until the Day of Resurrection. Some people remembered it, and some forgot it. Among what he said in his address was: The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: "The world is sweet and lush. Indeed, Allah is going to make you successors in it, so He will see how you act. Beware! Be cautious of the world, and be cautious of (the temptation of) women." And the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) mentioned: "On the Day of Resurrection, for every betrayer, there will be a flag according to the extent of his betrayal in the world, and there is no betrayal greater than the betrayal of the general leader (the head of state); his flag will be fixed on his buttocks. And the fear of people should not prevent any of you from speaking the truth when he knows it." In another narration: "If he sees an evil, he should stop it, and the fear of people should not prevent him from doing so." Thus (after narrating this), Abu Sa'id (may Allah be pleased with him) began to weep and said: "Indeed, we saw this, but the fear of people prevented us from speaking about it." Then the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: "Listen! The children of Adam were created in different categories: among them, some were created as believers, they lived as such and died as such; and among them, some were created as disbelievers, they lived as such and died as such; and among them, some are born as believers, live as believers, and die as disbelievers; and among them, some are born as disbelievers, live as such, and die as believers." And the narrator states: The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) mentioned anger: "Among them, some get angry quickly and it subsides quickly; one trait is the substitute for the other. And among them, some get angry slowly and it subsides slowly; this too is one trait for another. The best among you is the one who gets angry slowly and it subsides quickly, and the worst among you is the one who gets angry quickly and it subsides slowly." The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: "Beware of anger, for it is a burning coal on the heart of the son of Adam. Do you not see the swelling of his veins and the redness of his eyes? Whoever feels such a state should lie down and attach himself to the ground." The narrator states: The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) mentioned debt and said: "Some of you are good in repayment, but when they have to take a loan, they are harsh in collection; this trait is the substitute for the other (however, this quality is not praiseworthy). Some are bad in repayment but good in collection; this too is the substitute for the other (however, this quality is not praiseworthy). The best among you is the one who, when he owes a debt, repays it well, and when he has to collect a debt, he is gentle in collection. The worst among you is the one who is bad in repayment and harsh in collection." Until, when the sunlight reached the tops of the date palms and the sides of the walls, he said: "Listen! Only as much of the world remains as the portion of this day that remains." Chain is weak, narrated by al-Tirmidhi.
