Mishkat al-Masabih
كتاب الآدابThe Book of Manners
(أَسْوَأُ إِنْسَانٍ مَنْ يُفْسِدُ آخِرَتَهُ لِأَجْلِ دُنْيَا غَيْرِهِ)
(The worst person is one who ruins their Hereafter for someone else’s world)
Hadith 5132
وَعَنْ أَبِي أُمَامَةَ أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسلم قَالَ: «مِنْ شَرِّ النَّاسِ مَنْزِلَةً عِنْدَ اللَّهِ يَوْمَ الْقِيَامَةِ عَبْدٌ أَذْهَبَ آخِرَتَهُ بِدُنْيَا غَيْرِهِ» . رَوَاهُ ابْن مَاجَه
It is narrated from Abu Umamah (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: "On the Day of Resurrection, the worst person in status will be the one who ruined his Hereafter for the sake of someone else's worldly life." Its chain is weak, narrated by Ibn Majah.
