Mishkat al-Masabih
كتاب الآدابThe Book of Manners
(الحَيَاءُ إِيمَانٌ وَالقَسْوَةُ جَهَنَّمٌ)
(Modesty is faith, and harshness is Hell)
Hadith 5077
وَعَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ قَالَ: قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ: «الْحَيَاءُ مِنَ الْإِيمَانِ وَالْإِيمَانُ فِي الْجَنَّةِ. وَالْبَذَاءُ مِنَ الْجَفَاءِ وَالْجَفَاءُ فِي النَّار» . رَوَاهُ أَحْمد وَالتِّرْمِذِيّ
Abu Hurairah (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: "Modesty is a part of faith, and the faithful will be in Paradise, while obscenity is evil and the evil ones will be in Hell." Its chain is Hasan. Narrated by Ahmad and Tirmidhi.
