(لِمَاذَا لَمْ يُقَلْ إِنِّي عَبْدٌ أَنْصَارِيٌّ)
(Why Was It Not Said, “I Am an Ansari Slave”?)
Hadith 4903
وَعَنْ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنِ أَبِي عُقْبَةَ عَنْ أبي عُقبةَ وَكَانَ مَوْلًى مِنْ أَهْلِ فَارِسَ قَالَ: شَهِدْتُ مَعَ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ أُحُدًا فَضَرَبْتُ رَجُلًا مِنَ الْمُشْرِكِينَ فَقُلْتُ خُذْهَا مِنِّي وَأَنَا الْغُلَامُ الْفَارِسِيُّ فَالْتَفَتَ إِلَيَّ فَقَالَ: هَلَّا قُلْتَ: خُذْهَا مِنِّي وَأَنَا الْغُلَامُ الْأَنْصَارِيُّ؟ . رَوَاهُ أَبُو دَاوُد
Abdur Rahman bin Abi Aqbah (may Allah have mercy on him) narrates from Abu Aqbah (may Allah be pleased with him), and he was a freed slave of the people of Persia. He said: I participated in the Battle of Uhud with the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him). I struck a polytheist and said: Receive (endure) this from me, I am of Persian descent. The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) turned towards me and said: "Why did you not say, 'Receive (endure) this from me, and I am an Ansari, a young man.'" Its chain is weak. Narrated by Abu Dawood.
