Abu Dharr (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates: I came to the service of the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him), he mentioned the entire hadith, and up to this point he said: I said, O Messenger of Allah! Advise me. He (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "I advise you to adopt the fear of Allah, for it is the most beautifying for all your affairs." I said: Tell me more! He (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Recite the Qur'an and remember Allah, the Mighty and Majestic, for it will be a mention for you in the heavens and a light for you on the earth." I said: Advise me more. He (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Always remain silent, for it drives away Satan and helps you in matters of your religion." I said: Tell me more. He (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Avoid excessive laughter, for it kills the heart and removes the light from the face." I said: Advise me more. The narrator says, he (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Speak the truth, even if it is bitter." I said: Tell me more. He (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Do not fear the blame of any blamer in the matter of Allah." I said: Tell me more. He (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "The knowledge of your own faults should prevent you from finding fault with others." Its chain is weak. Narrated by Al-Bayhaqi in Shu'ab al-Iman.
