It is narrated from Safwan bin Sulaim (may Allah have mercy on him) that it was asked from the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him): "Can a believer be a coward?" He (peace and blessings be upon him) replied: "Yes." Then it was asked: "Can a believer be miserly?" He (peace and blessings be upon him) replied: "Yes." Then it was asked: "Can a believer be a liar?" He (peace and blessings be upon him) replied: "No." Malik and Bayhaqi have narrated it as mursal in Shu'ab al-Iman. Its chain is weak. Narrated by Malik and al-Bayhaqi in Shu'ab al-Iman.
