Shuraih bin Hani narrates from his father that when he came to the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) with his people, he heard them calling his father by the nickname Abu al-Hakam. The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) called him and said: "Indeed, Allah is the Judge, and judgment belongs only to Him. Why have you been given the nickname Abu al-Hakam?" He said: "When my people differ over something, they come to me, and I judge between them, and both parties are satisfied with my decision." The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "How good this is. How many children do you have?" He said: "Shuraih, Muslim, and Abdullah." The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Which of them is the eldest?" The narrator says: I said: "Shuraih." The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "You are Abu Shuraih." Its chain is Hasan. Narrated by Abu Dawood and al-Nasa'i.
