Mishkat al-Masabih
كتاب الآدابThe Book of Manners
(مَنْ يَرْغَبُ فِي اسْتِقْبَالِ النَّاسِ مَأْوَاهُ جَهَنَّمُ)
(One who desires people to stand in welcome will have Hell as their abode)
Hadith 4699
وَعَن مُعَاوِيَة قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ: «مَنْ سَرَّهُ أَنْ يَتَمَثَّلَ لَهُ الرِّجَالُ قِيَامًا فَلْيَتَبَوَّأْ مَقْعَدَهُ مِنَ النَّارِ» رَوَاهُ التِّرْمِذِيُّ وَأَبُو دَاوُد
Muawiyah (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Whoever likes that people stand before him, then he should make his abode in the Hellfire." Hasan, narrated by Tirmidhi and Abu Dawood.
