Jabir (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates: A man came to the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) and said, "So-and-so has a date-palm tree in my garden, and because of this date-palm tree he causes me harm." The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) sent a message to him to sell his date-palm tree to me. He said: No. The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: "Then give it to me as a gift." He said: No. The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: "Sell it to me in exchange for a date-palm tree in Paradise." He said: No. So the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: "I have not seen anyone more miserly than you, except one who is miserly in greeting with peace." Its chain is weak. Narrated by Ahmad and al-Bayhaqi in Shu'ab al-Iman.
